PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Hello - I hope everyone enjoyed the narrower pen last month. Everyone I talked to thought it was just right.

We only have three weeks between shows this time, and we will not be having a show in May. May is always filled with other shows making it hard to find a free date. Our June show is scheduled for Sunday, June 15th. I would also like to thank everyone who brings a help horse. We could not have a show without these people who donate their time to help our contestants.

Please remember our sponsors when you are in a shopping mood. So far this year we welcomed two new sponsors: Dick's Rancho Glass and D2 Trailer Sales. We also welcome back continuing sponsors: Suzan and Bill Bonnington, Sheldon Feed, Ricotti's, Franusich Saddlery, River Ridge Ranch, Canyon Creek Ranch, Lockeford Hay Station, Quiznos and Weill Industrial. These fine people make it possible for us to have an awards program at the end of the year. Please give them your business and let them know you are from Clements Cutting Club.

THE MARCH SHOW WAS EXCELLENT!

Our show in March started out a bit cold, but the day turned out wonderful and warm. We had 100 works and several practices. The CCC will again return to the new arena for the April and June shows. There will be NO MAY SHOW DUE TO A BUSY MONTH FOR ALL CUTTING EVENTS; but we are looking forward to scheduling the balance of the shows from July to the end of September.

From Highway 99: Take Twin Cities road exit (E12) - Go West 7 miles; turn right on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

From Interstate 5: Take Twin Cities Road exit (E12) - Go East 1.9 miles; turn left on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

Thanks to all the help horses at the March show! It was very much appreciated by all those who spent the day. We had 100 works not counting the practices. We have now put together three back-to-back shows with 100+ works, and we hope to continue with a good turnout for the rest of the season.

We are in the process of trying to put together a turnback clinic and hope to have some news about this in the near future. Until then, please take the time to thank those who give their time to help you get your horse shown at the club show!

just a reminder……..

Before you pack up your horse and pull out after you show, please take a moment to gather up any papers or cans that may have been knocked to the grounds. It takes a moment for you, but if left to those of us who are the last to leave, it can be an annoying task. Thanks for your cooperation.

A NOTE ABOUT YEAR-END AWARDS

Please remember that you must show in at least 50% of the classes at the club shows in order to qualify for year-end awards. This year we anticipate no less than 6 shows and possibly 8 shows by year-end. (You must show in half that amount to be eligible for awards in a class).

You will notice the many buckle awards that will be presented this year to the winners in our classes. Please take the time to step forward and offer to sponsor a buckle or one of our other awards that will be offered in third through fifth place.

2003 sponsorship program

The Clements Cutting Club offers a unique opportunity to our supporters for the 2003 season. For $250.00, we will provide the following advertising opportunities:

We will make a 3' x 5' vinyl banner which will be displayed at each cutting on the inside arena walls.
We will run your business card ad in each of our monthly newsletters.
We will put your ad permanently on our web site.

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. Instead of year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

2003 ccc class rules

OPEN	Anyone can ride; a person can ride as many horses as desired.
NON PRO	No trainers. Rider must own horse.
10,000 NOVICE	Anyone can ride; a person can ride as many horses as desired. Horse must not have won over $10,000.
10,000 NOVICE NON PRO	Non Pro rider must own horse; horse must not have won over $10,000.
3,000 NOVICE	Anyone can ride; a person can ride as many horses as desired. Horse must not have won over $3,000.
50,000 AMATEUR	Open to any amateurs who have not won over $50,000 as of Jan. 1 of that year. Class conforming to NCHA rules.
3,000 NOVICE NON PRO	Non Pro rider must own horse; horse must not have won over $3,000.
2,000 LIMITED	All riders having lifetime earnings of less than $2,000 at the beginning of the point year. Any horse may be ridden.
YOUTH	Must be 18 years of age or younger. May show any horse.
500 NON PRO	Non Pro rider must own horse. Rider must not have earned over $500.
$$$ Note $$$	All Jackpot money will be paid in accordance with NCHA rules.

PRACTICE PEN: Practices in the show pen will be held at the end of each set. However, it will be limited to the first 3 to sign up. YOU CAN ONLY SIGN UP AT THE SHOW. There will be no phone reservations allowed. The practices are $30.00 and 2 1/2 minutes long.
