"The best little cutting horse club in the West." February, 2003

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Once again our January show at Rancho Murieta went very well. The sunshine was a welcome sight later in the day. Larry Helgesen did a great job with the cattle - and it was his first day on the job!

An arena for February and March as been secured. I would like to thank Pete Jacoway, David Brooks, Russ Elrod and Ernie Oswald for taking time out of their schedules to make this happen. Our February show is set for Sunday the 16th. We need some help on Saturday, (Feb. 15) to set up the arena. If you have a couple of hours you can spare, please call a board member and sign up for a time. We will be at the arena between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m.

We also need help horses, and if you have a horse that could be used to help in the show pen, please bring it to the show.

ALSO, WE HAVE ADDED A NEW CLASS TO THE SCHEDULE - IT IS A LADIES CLASS!

See you in February,

Bernie Talbot

A NEW ARENA FOR THE CCCSHOWS IN JANUARY & FEBRUARY

The CCC Board has found a new arena for the February show. It is the MacKay Ranch on Dierssen Road in Elk Grove, and it is brand new. It is covered and has plenty of parking and can handle inclement weather, too!

On Saturday, Feb. 15, from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. your Board members will be out there getting it ready for Sunday's show. Please take the time to come out and help us if you can spare an hour or two. It will help make short work of what is going to be an afternoon job. We need to hang tarps, set up the sound system, move tables, etc.

Directions to MacKay Ranch, 3215 Dierssen Rd, Elk Grove, CA:

From Highway 99: Take Twin Cities road exit (E12) - Go West 7 miles; turn right on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

From Interstate 5: Take Twin Cities Road exit (E12) - Go East 1.9 miles; turn left on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

    HELP!!! we need you!

As we begin a new cutting show season, we want the members to know how much we appreciate those of you who sit in the corners and also those who turn back for everyone during the show. There is only one problem….not enough help is available and we are working to death the few loyal members that do lend a hand.

Please remember to bring help horses if you have them, so we can continue to produce a show without overworking those who are generous enough to spend their time helping the rest of us. This is a team sport…..no one can cut without their help. Let's not take them for granted.

    just a reminder……..

Before you pack up your horse and pull out after you show, please take a moment to gather up any papers or cans that may have been knocked to the grounds. It takes a moment for you, but if left to those of us who are the last to leave, it can be an annoying task. Thanks for your cooperation.

    please remember

to pray for Laci Rocha Peterson who is pregnant and has been missing since December 24th, 2002. She is Bob Rocha's
granddaughter, and the niece of Maria Robin Rocha Viera. Thank you.

    2003 sponsorship program

The Clements Cutting Club offers a unique opportunity to our supporters for the 2003 season. For $250.00, we will provide the following advertising opportunities:

    • We will make a 3' x 5' vinyl banner which will be displayed at each cutting on the inside arena walls.
    • We will run your business card ad in each of our monthly newsletters.
    • We will put your ad permanently on our web site.

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. Instead of year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

    Thank you for your support.
