"The best little cutting horse club in the West." June, 2005

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Another great show in May. We had a great turnout, good cattle, fantastic weather and fun for everyone. I’m encouraged by all of our new members enjoying themselves.

Due to the higher cost of fuel and cattle we are forced to raise our fresh cattle classes by $5.00 for the June show and $10.00 for the remainder of the season. This is the going rate for cattle. Our supplier has had the most consistently good cattle of any we have used in the past several years and I feel that the little extra per class is worth the guarantee of not having rerun cattle sent back to us.

The club is going to add the $20,000 Non Pro class. This will allow a full range of entries at our shows. The $20,000 Non Pro will be run in conjunction with the $50,000 Amateur as both classes have few entries. The $20,000 will be eligible for year end awards.

As always, any constructive suggestions are welcome.

I’m looking forward to another great show on June 19th and hope to see everyone there.

Syd Curtis
President, Clements Cutting Club

let’s all behave in the loping pen!

It’s that time of the year again when we need to gently remind everyone of the loping pen “ground rules.” Following these simple guidelines can save everyone lots of aggravation, not to mention keep it safe.
    • Stay to the inside if you want to go slow
    • Stay to the outside if you want to go fast
    • Try not to bunch up and talk or stand still in traffic.
    • Be kind and let people in and out of traffic.
    • Never stop in traffic.
    • Groom and apply boots out of traffic.
    • Do not tie your horse to a panel or other loose object, find something secure.
    • Do not tie stallions, kicking or biting horses in the loping pen.
    • Maintain one direction
    • Do not pony when space does not allow it
    • Always be in control of your horse.
    • Yield to tractors and pedestrians.
    • Keep your sense of humor!

Especially here at Clements Cutting Club where we cater to families and new members, we need to remember that we all get nervous or get in a hurry from time to time. Let’s try to be patient with each other and most of all have a good time. For more information please see NCHA rule book pages 165-167.

    • We will make a 3' x 5' vinyl banner which will be displayed at each cutting on the inside arena walls.
    • We will run your business card ad in each of our monthly newsletters.
    • We will put your ad on our web site.

Ad Rates for 3 Month Period:

    • Business Card = $10
    • ¼ page = $25
    • ½ page = $40
    • 1 page ad = $65

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. In addition to year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

    Thank you for your support.
