"The best little cutting horse club in the West." March, 2003

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Hello, is anyone out there? Last month I asked for volunteers to help with the set up of the new arena, and no one calls to help. The work involved in putting on a show can be overwhelming at times, and the same six to eight people who do all the work for no monetary gain are getting burned out; so if you can find any time to help prior to, or immediately after, a show it would be greatly appreciated. I would like to thank Diana Davenport and Howard Hempstead. They both showed up on Saturday to help.

The requirements for becoming an NCHA affiliate has changed since we considered it the first time. The board of directors is still discussing the possibilities, but it is not looking good. I will let you know the final word as soon as a decision is complete.

Due to a lack of enough entries in the Ladies Class, it has been canceled. Also, the 2000 Limited Class will resume to two fresh cattle rather than the rerun cattle we tried last month.

Due to the cost of set-up and tear-down of the arena panels, moving the bleachers, judge's stand and the trailer for announcing, there will be a small increase in class fees.

See you on the 23rd.

Bernie Talbot

    GOOD NEWS!!

R.G. Hill came through an angioplasty procedure including a shunt in fine shape. He is feeling good and has already started to show his horse again. Welcome back R.G., and we look forward to seeing you again at the club shows.

THE NEW ARENA FOR THE FEBRUARY SHOW GETS A WARM RECEPTION

Our show in February went very well and the arena gave everyone plenty of room to warm up and show. The CCC will again return to the new arena for the March and April shows. There will be a few minor adjustments in arena size and cattle gate placement; but we are looking forward to another great show for the club.

The arena is at the MacKay Ranch on Dierssen Road in Elk Grove, and it is brand new. It is covered and has plenty of parking and can handle inclement weather, too!

Directions to MacKay Ranch, 3215 Dierssen Rd, Elk Grove, CA:

From Highway 99: Take Twin Cities road exit (E12) - Go West 7 miles; turn right on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

From Interstate 5: Take Twin Cities Road exit (E12) - Go East 1.9 miles; turn left on Franklin at the stop sign. Go ½ mile; turn left on Dierssen; go 1.4 miles, over Interstate 5 bridge, to MacKay Ranch.

    THANKS TO OUR MEMBERS!!!

Thanks to all the help horses at the February show! It was very much appreciated by all those who spent the day. We had over 100 works not counting the practices. We have now put together two back-to-back shows with 100+ works, and we hope to continue with a good turnout for the rest of the season. We are in the process of looking for an arena for a couple of summer shows just for a change of scenery. Nothing has been acquired yet, so plan on going to the MacKay Ranch until we notify you otherwise

    A NOTE ABOUT YEAR-END AWARDS

Please remember that you must show in at least 50% of the classes at the club shows in order to qualify for year-end awards. This year we anticipate no less than 6 shows and possibly 8 shows by year-end. (You must show in half that amount to be eligible for awards in a class).

    CCC AWARDS/SPONSORSHIPS

You will notice the many buckle awards that will be presented this year to the winners in our classes. Please take the time to step forward and offer to sponsor a buckle or one of our other awards that will be offered in third through fifth place.

    Thank you,

    CCC Board of Directors

    2003 sponsorship program

The Clements Cutting Club offers a unique opportunity to our supporters for the 2003 season. For $250.00, we will provide the following advertising opportunities:

    • We will make a 3' x 5' vinyl banner which will be displayed at each cutting on the inside arena walls.
    • We will run your business card ad in each of our monthly newsletters.
    • We will put your ad permanently on our web site.

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. Instead of year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

    Thank you for your support.
