"The best little cutting horse club in the West." March, 2007

presidents message:

Hardly seems it was a year ago that we going crazy trying to find dates to show that weren’t rained out.  Anyway we're set for this year as I write this, the weather is perfect and so is the ground.

Our first show is April 15th and entries are due on April 11th.  You can enter by contacting Jainet Gaines at ShowSecretary@ClementsCutting.com, Phone/FAX: 916.687.6960 or Enter On-Line! from our website.

We always say how much we appreciate all the help the professional trainers give us during the show, so this year we decided to put our money where our mouth is.  Clements Cutting Club will buy lunch for each trainer that shows on show day.  More importantly, each trainer that shows or has clients showing will be allowed two free practice pen works to be used to school or assist a client.  The works must be used only by a trainer in conjunction with a client or client’s horse and can’t be given to anyone else.  One of the original objectives of this club is to provide an opportunity for competitors to learn.  The board feels that our actions should be based on this objective, hence the two free practices for trainers.

Laurie is doing her fabulous foods for us again.

We have a new cattle supplier this year and are guaranteed more consistent cattle sizes.  The holding area has been moved behind the working arena allowing for a smooth transition from herd to herd and keeping the working herd centered and balanced.

We have also brought back the yearend $1,000.00 award for Open, Non-Pro and Amateur along with our monthly show jackpots in each of the non-pro and amateur classes.

As always, comments and constructive criticism is appreciated and any member is welcome at our board meetings to discuss concerns to make our club better.

See you at our first cutting show on April 15th.

~ Syd Curtis, President Clements Cutting Club

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. In addition to year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

    Thank you for your support.
