"The best little cutting horse club in the West." May, 2002

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

Hello -

I would like to apologize to everyone who attended the April show. The dust problem was out of my control, and after talking to Gavin he agreed it should have been taken care of. At the same time, I would like to thank Gavin Jordan and Jason Taylor for all of their hard work to get as much accomplished as they did. The arena footing was great. The cattle were horrible. We ordered them from the same guy we used 5 out of 6 times last year, and last year the cattle were good every time. I have heard from some of our members that this happens often with this supplier. I can assure you that as long as I am President, he will not be supplying cattle, even if we can not find cattle elsewhere.

With all the PCCHA shows in May, we have decided to skip a May show and have our next show on June 9th at Syd Curtis' Ranch in Wilton. Hope to see you there,

Bernie Talbot

2002 SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The Clements Cutting Club offers a unique opportunity to our supporters for the 2002 season. For $250.00, we will provide the following advertising opportunities:

  • We will make a 3' x 5' vinyl banner which will be displayed at each cutting on the inside arena walls.
  • We will run your business card ad in each of our monthly newsletters.
  • We will put your ad permanently on our web site.

In the past, our sponsors donated year-end awards. We changed our format beginning in 2001. Instead of year-end awards in all classes, we have been jack-potting all classes. The members have responded enthusiastically to this change. Our new advertising program reflects another change for the club. The Board of Directors believes it offers a much higher level of visibility for our advertisers.

Thank you for your support.

NCHA Rule Tidbit: Degree of difficulty

Cutter A cuts cleanly and works 2 cows. He holds both cows very near the center of the arena. Both of the cows worked by Cutter A are slow and neither makes much effort to return to the herd. Cutter B cuts cleanly and works two cows. He holds his first cow very near the center of the arena. He cuts his second cow cleanly but works it almost entirely on the right one-third of the arena. The first cow worked by Cutter B is slow and makes very little effort to return to the herd. The second cow moves rapidly and turns quickly in its attempt to return to the herd. Both Cutter A and Cutter B have penalty free runs.

RULING: Cutter B shall receive more credit than Cutter A. A judge must always consider the degree of difficulty in a run.
